Leadership Program

~to inspire and engage creative leaders working to build a stronger, more vibrant Sauk County community~

Sauk County Institute of Leadership (SCIL) brings together potential leaders from various segments of the community in a program that empowers, engages, and equips participants to make a positive difference in Sauk County. Our goal is to develop dynamic leadership skills that transfer to county work, business growth, and community development.

The nine-month program kicks off with an overnight retreat in September followed by eight, daylong workshops that are held throughout the county on the second Thursday of each month from October to May. Each daylong workshop has a different community and leadership topic, including on diversity, authentic leadership, health care, law enforcement, and much more. Offsetting the in person meetings are virtual “Retention Extension” sessions that meet for an hour, two weeks after a SCIL day. These virtual sessions offer reinforcement and momentum for the program.

Morgan McArthur

Kate Archer Kent for Wisconsin Public Radio interviewed SCIL Program Facilitator, Morgan McArthur on December 11, 2024.

He had lots to share! Here is an excerpt:

We asked people early on, “How many here self identify as introverts?” It’s usually about 50 percent. We spend a lot of time storytelling. When a physician’s learning about a dairy farmer, that’s a pretty cool deal. We’re doing some deep work.

When you raise your confidence, you’re coated in confidence. You’re a different person that comes out the other side.
